Good afternoon,
I am going to stick my two cents worth in. There has to be a reason
WHY VNC is not behaving correctly as a service. I do not know myself
because I do not use it in quite the same manner, but the service runs just
fine for me. I can remotely reboot '95, '98. and '2000 and then reconnect
and log in. If you keep working with it, you will figure it out.
When you reinstalled VNC, did you completely uninstall before
reinstalling?
Did you delete the ORL registry keys?
Did you delete the service key under services? (after deleting
the ORL keys, search for "VNC")
After Reinstalling, did you chose (In the VNC start menu)
Administrative tools/Run as Service? and then
Administrative tools/Run Service Helper?
Did you set the password for the service?
I hope some of this helps. Keep posting and don't give up.
Have a Good Day,
Michael L.

This is true. VNC will not fire-up in Win98 until someone logs on to the
computer.

I did have is in the start up and got the same effect....
it runs , but only after you sign in on thoes machines.
The guys in the mainframe computer room , can't come over here to this
building and sign these
computers on. They need to be able to reboot from there and have it come
back up. And be able to sign on.
it won't do that either way I try it.

It should run when you install it as a service.
However, one quick-fix for your problem is to put a shortcut of the VNC
(App
Mode)in your start-up folder.

I have installed VNC as a service on a Windows 98 box.
However , it still will not fire up until AFTER someone logs on to the
machine.
I need for someone to be able to remotely re-boot the machine and be able
to
get back on after ot so finished.
