And most times this is true.  Without pointing out the documentation you
are setting yourself up to repeat it all in little bits as a person starts
using VNC.  Pointing a user to the documentation (if they haven't read it)
most likely does them more good than giving them the answer on the list.

Asking questions *based on the documentation* to clarify things are more
likely to generate a response.  If you just say "what port numbers does
VNC use?" I'm going to assume you have never looked at the documentation. 
And if you ask a question I answered two days ago, I'm going to assume you
didn't read the documentation and didn't search the archives.

I agree this list is for all users.  Just don't come here expecting
someone to hold your hand without putting forth some effort of your own.

As above, questions to *clarify* the documentation can just help the
documentation get better.
