I am trying to help out a friend running VNC, I don't have any experience using the product myself, and I'm looking for some help - please.
Everything was working up to about 2 weeks ago, and everything else seems to be working ok (web access, email) with exception of a remote user being unable to connect to the VNC server. I have the ip and hardware scheme listed below. From talking to the user, the ip address that the viewer uses to connect is an assigned static public ip address 64.139.xx.xx. My understanding is that this address is assigned to the firewall. I have tried to ping the address, but I get a request timed out. I can ping the routers wan port static ip address successfully. I found a note in this forum referencing the url www.gotomyvnc.com, we ran the script but the response we got back was not responding on display 0 - 9. Does this indicate there is a problem with the settings on the firewall not allowing port 5800 to pass through the firewall? Or is there still something out of whack that I can't ping the firewall? Hardware configuration Firewall - Sonicwall 10 user 64.139.xx.xx Router WAN port 216.36.xx.xx to provider DHCP scheme 192.168.168.2 - 19 and the router address behind the firewall is 192.168.168.1 Thanks in advance Steve [demime 0.99d.1 removed an attachment of type application/ms-tnef which had a name of winmail.dat] _______________________________________________ VNC-List mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] To remove yourself from the list visit: http://www.realvnc.com/mailman/listinfo/vnc-list
