I've just downloaded RealVNC onto my Windows XP Home system. It works well connecting to another Windows XP Home system here on the LAN. Actually it works well *only* if run it from the Start menu item created by the install program. When I try to run the viewer with a configuration file, it always fails.
Specifically: I start the viewer, observe the proper server address in the dialog box, click on OK, it connects and works fine. I do F8, Options, Defaults, Save Configuration File As, specify a place on my hard disk, I get "Options saved successfully". I disconnect, navigate my way to the VNC file I just saved, and double-click on it expecting it to connect. What actually happens is that I get a grey box in the middle of the screen saying "Attempting to connect to host..." with the Cancel button disabled. Nothing further happens. "End Task" is the only way out. I tried alternate ways of invoking the config file, in a shortcut and at the command prompt: "C:\Program Files\RealVNC\VNC4\vncviewer.exe" -config D:\Jukebox\WHITE.vnc The effect is the same. I don't know what to try next. Any ideas? It's "VNC Viewer for Win32 4.0 Built on Jun 15 2004 at 14:29:29". The contents of the configuration file are: [Connection] Host=192.168.1.21 [Options] UseLocalCursor=1 UseDesktopResize=1 FullScreen=0 FullColour=1 LowColourLevel=1 PreferredEncoding=hextile AutoSelect=1 Shared=0 SendPtrEvents=1 SendKeyEvents=1 SendCutText=1 AcceptCutText=1 Emulate3=0 PointerEventInterval=0 Monitor=\\.\DISPLAY1 MenuKey=F8 -- Mike Barnes _______________________________________________ VNC-List mailing list [email protected] To remove yourself from the list visit: http://www.realvnc.com/mailman/listinfo/vnc-list
