Cristian:
I think I understand what you're saying... when you ping the address of your
router, you get a ping response, but you cannot connect to the VNC server.
If I understand you correctly, there are a couple things you need to check:
1) Make sure you have the ports forwarded in your router to your XP box. 2)
Make sure that any firewalls you have (including the XP firewall) are
configured to permit VNC in.

Hello!
I'm new to this mailing list and after some search I didn't manage to find
what I need so I try to ask:
I installed the last vnc server free edition on Win XP with SP2. To conect
to it works only if I use the user-mode server. But that does not bother
me. The problem is that someone from another Win XP SP2 from Romania could
connect to my Pc from The Netherlands but as I tried to connect to my PC
from a Linux behind a firewall it does not work. It gets no response from
that pc on which I'm trying to log in. When I ping it it responds. My linux
is a RH for 64 bits.
Can anyone help? If further details are necessary I can provide them.
