Yes, but you are also overly defensive about it. > Others have, and I don't have enough information to tell you > why that is the case. Others have...what? Seen instances where a computer without Norton Antivirus was unable to download a message? That's like saying, "others have seen daylight." Of course some mail clients don't need Norton to have problems. > Now that would be usefull, can you send me any notes/examples > you have? If I recall, modusMail (and possibly VOPMail) were corrupting messages by replacing the first character in one of the headers with a period. It seemed to be random headers. In other words, try replacing the first character of any header with a period. > The date issue, I believe, was something that affected the > 2000/2001 version (now resolved). Patches, fixes or the like? I'd like to point our customers at these. > That is not a fix, it's a workaround. Can you provide an example as to where disabling this feature would cause a problem? Are there any known exploits or is this just a theoretical thing? My concern is that we always tell customers to disable this feature as it seems to cause more problems than it solves. Along those lines, we've trained most of our customers to just log in with Web mail and delete the problem message. However, I'll ask the support people to try and grab a copy of any problematic messages reported. In any case, I'd recommend looking back through the archives as it seems this exact issues comes up every month like clockwork. Perhaps someone has already done the research and posted with some more detail. Benjamin S.
