Subject: [VOPmail Beta] Release of VOPMail 6 - FLAME Read at your own peril

This has been an interesting thread, even more so when you see the people who have posted.

Petar, you really should think before you post as you are alienating yourself from those who may be able to help you. Getting on the wrong side off people is not the way to get problems solved. It normally just makes those involved more upset and less likely to be helpful.

The initial response I received was unwarranted, added nothing to the points raised  and then got out of control. I just don't understand why people are unable to just press delete if they don't like a subject of discussion. I subscribe to plenty of active mailing lists and see comments from people that make me look like an angel 0_:-)

Whilst I do agree that Vircom lost customer loyalty through their own erroneous ways, they do appear to be making amendments. I do know that several Vircom staff read this list, and some would probably love to get involved in this thread. However I am sure they have not done so to evade a slagging match that would almost surely occur. Vircom staff have been extra responsive to queries over the last few weeks even though they are hard at work on new versions. Their decision to delay the release of VOPMail 6 makes perfect sense to me especially due to the product going through a name change (it will now be called ModusMail Lt.). Vircom have been listening to the Alpha / Beta testers who also appear to be the most active people on the mailing lists.

Vircom will have to work damn hard to make me a happy customer again. Changes in support and upgrade insurance policy, lack of updates in a timely fashion and customer neglect (re: upgrades) take a while to fade into history. They shafted people who purchased Vop Radius ( I bought this product as well) a number of years ago and this has been a repeat of that incident as I posted previously to the list.

Before this message drags on, if you felt the way you did about VOPMail and Vircoms service, why didnt you just send an email to Vircom or look for alternative products. Instead you flame the list, which gets you on a couple of people blacklists, and also gets you noticed by people who may help you. I personally note people who make posts like this and have a nasty habit of not helping them in the future.

If one potential customer that lurks on this list reads my comments and thinks twice about the product then I will be satisified that another person will not have to go through the same crap treatment. Let me make it clear my beef is about upgrades and not support. I am not a customer that needs support each year but I /DO/ need upgrades and that has not happened. I still run my VopMail5.x product along with sendmail, postfix and Exchange at other operations as warranted. There could have been 3 more Vopmail licenses and more to customers but the Vircom end was non-existent. Open source products are geting easier and easier to use, eaier and easier to setup and configure and commercial operations like Vircom must understand that the one differentiator they (potentially) have is support. Squeezing a smaller and smaller market segment the same old way will result in their demise which I do not wish upon therm. I just want them to get their collective act together and look after the customers that helped build their company.

John,

I looked really hard at the Vircom site to find out where you were

listed as the list manager - thats right - I couldn't find any

such thing, so that means you can f!ck off.

Maybe you should learn to operate the delete button on your keyboard

rather than jumping in to make a personal issue of perectly valid

comments aimed at Vircom on a Vircom forum to wich Vircom customers

subscribe and I /AM/ a Vircom customer.

If you don't like what I write I suggest you unsubscribe or

learn to use those powerful filtering tools built into the

product to which you claim to own.

If you want to keep this up as a personal attack I can guarantee

that I will still be here when you have given up, fool!

Have a nice day.

..Petar
