-----Original Message----- From: [email protected] Rossi: "No radioactivity has been found also in the Nickel residual from the process."
RvS: This by itself would appear to be evidence that the reactions they propose were not those which actually took place. e.g. 26% of Ni is Ni-60. Add a proton and you get Cu-61, which has a half life of 3.33 hours. Quite long enough for residual radioactivity to be easily detected. Well, again - he detects lots of copper as a transmutation product, and my comment is that, like Mills, radioactivity can be detected "only if you want to detect it." If you have an agenda that insists the process is completely safe, even if it requires "some lead shielding" - like Rossi (and Mills is simply 'not sayin') ... then it is kind of a case of "don't look, don't find" :) ... after all, in a day or too there will be little trace. Jones Awkshully ... another reason that could possibly be relevant to this situation - is that instead of a 'proton' being added, we have the route via a 'virtual neutron' which is not quite the Dufour situation, but can be defined in such a way that the species acts as an 'almost neutral' vehicle for getting an energy deficient proton into the target nucleus.
