I think it is extremely unlikely there are two completely unrelated phenomena which produce heat, tritium and nuclear transmutations from metal hydrides. Pd-D produces helium in the same ratio as plasma fusion reactors do, so obviously it is a d-d reaction. I have no idea what the Ni-H p-p reaction produces, but I am sure that if people look they will find it. In any case, this reaction produces far more energy than any chemical reaction could, with no chemical changes. It clearly is not fission. So that leaves only fusion. To my knowledge, those are the only candidates known to science. I doubt it is zero point energy. - Jed
