...which begs the question: Would it be accurate to describe Dr.
Stiffler's configuration a closed-loop system? Technically speaking, I
gather not. But what is powering all those LEDs? It doesn't take much
imagination to envision a new Dr.S configuration of LEDs generating
the equivalent amount of light as a typical 100 watt incandescent
bulb, or better yet an equivalent 25 watt ECObulb. Say, could Ron's
configuration be adapted to power an ECObulb?

Do we need to redefine the definition of what constitutes a true
"closed loop" system?
