It is hard to tell what might happen based on local conditions.
However, a person who has huge crowds at his rallies and collects a
huge amount of money must have massive support. In addition. Obama is
using his organizing skills to make sure his people vote.
I suggest the basis on which people make a decision this time is
largely determined by how they precess information, i.e. whether they
use rational evaluation or emotion. The difference between the two
candidates is clearly defined and the financial situation is universal
in its effects. A rational evaluation of the financial benefits favors
Obama for anyone in the middle class and lower. Even the terrorist
issue does not favor McCain because of his known failure to make
considered and rational judgements. This defect is apparent from his
early days in the Naval Academy to his pick of Palin. In this regard,
he is very much like Bush. On the other hand, emotion rejects Obama
because of his color, because he is prochoice, and because he is not
like the average plumber, so to speak.
The basis for rejection based the tax-and-spend claim that is applied
to Democrats no longer applies because of the financial mess the
Republicans created. No matter who is elected, the economy will have
to be stimulated by spending, which someone will have to pay for.
Even McCain cannot avoid this problem no matter how much he distorts
the situation.
So, I suggest this vote can be used as a diagnostic to evaluate the
mental process used by the American people to elect a leader. The
large and irrational support for McCain might explain why we get such
bad leaders so often in our history.

Hold on, regardless of who wins on Nov 4, the mother of all storms

Hi All, 11-2-08
It's not in the bag here in Ohio. Several life-long
Democrats have given me various esoteric reasons why they
can't vote for Obama. When I remark "On top of that,
he's black," they shut up.
If McCain wins, welcome to the horrors of the Kazakh War
of 2020.
