Just an opinion and I could be wrong here, but wasn't grok's attitude the problem more than politics or religion?
Now grok is gone then maybe it would be enough to just warn that any political or religious topic should be moved as soon as the participants recognize such? Because I suspect that Jed for instance would not have realized the political quality to his post as it was somewhat on topic and slight.
