Part of my bad opinion comes from Steorn keeping everything secret, yet then "helping" people to replicate. Is everyone CRAZY? How can you replicate a secret device? And if they're going to release the secrets, why aren't they ...releasing the secrets?!
Or has Steorn now released all info on Orbo so everyone can build exact copies? Part numbers of toroid cores, number of turns of which gauge of wire etc?
