The question: Why is the axial confinement coil required in the papp engine. The Papp reaction will not work without the coil. The answer: When the plasma is formed, the coil confines plasma into a very thin conductive channel where one dimensional electron flow along the channel makes the current superconductive. A electron screening cloud forms together with Rydberg matter in the partial plasma. This causes aneutronic fusion of three helium atoms into Boron11 and a proton.
This is consistent with the finding of a brown ash in the Papp engine as a nuclear ash. Cheers: Axil
