I would like to add a tiny bit of science fiction to this thread. Perhaps we do not need to be concerned about computers becoming too intelligent because future generations of our species periodically time travel back to our present to ensure that it does not happen. They had bad experiences with bots as they progressed.

I take the impression that the Skynet, from the terminator movie, is the only truly powerful being of the machines whereas the other robots are made with limited mind so not to question its power.
