Just to muddy the waters a bit.
While Christos is right about there not being a year 0 A.D. (which
means Ano Domini, or in the year of our lord), there supposedly WAS a
year 0 B.C. (which means Bio Christos, or Before Christ). And this,is
suppose to be when Christ was born (in 0 B.C. that is).
Before somebody tries to correct me, my Latin is poor and the spelling
for Bio Christos May be wrong (it is pronounced BEE-o KREES-tos). I am
fairly certain than Ano Domini is the correct spelling for that part.
To make thing even MORE unclear, people can't seem to agree to the
part of the year that Christ was born. Some say that it had to be in
summer because the shepard had their sheep grazing in the fields (and
supposedly they can't do that around Christmas time) while other look
to the parts of the story that talk about the "festival of lights" (a
holiday which takes place around the time of the longest nights of the
year) and claim that this means that Christ HAD to have been born in
December.
Sorry about the OT ranting. this discussion just seems pointless to
me. By the time it can be settled once and for all, it will too late
for it to meaan anything anyway.
