Hi, No it won't work due to bug in all NetGear products (bug in VPN - wrong messages are sent). Only ModeConfig+XAUTH works with Shrew. If you have NetScreen Remote (NetGear OEM VPN client) it will work with FVG318.

You MUST use mode config with the shrew client and FVS318. I just set one up this past week. Make sure that the mode config IP address that's assigned is not the same subnet as the VPN router's internal LAN address. For example, if you use 192.168.1.1 as the VPN LAN gateway address, then make sure your assigned IP addresses by mode-config are something like 192.168.2.x You must also use XAUTH. Setting it up was very straightforward. Sorry I can't recall the steps at the moment but I did read about it in the howto section of the the shrew.net website. Hope this helps!
