Saturday my friend Jomo and I were lucky enough to get a chance to fish
with our friend Jeff Brazda, who is normally guiding for the Evening Hatch,
but had Sat. off and was kind enough to ask us to spend the day with him on
the lower Canyon.
We put in right off the highway much to my suprise, between Bighorn and
Red's and drifted to Roza Dam takeout (13 miles). We were on by 11:30 and
started catching fish right away, nymphs were the way to go, only got any
dry action late in the evening after 7PM. We used a 2 nymph rig, large
weighted stone fly, with a prince, zug bug, or flashback below the big
indicator. Worked all day long.
We landed over thirty fish, with Jomo's 19 incher being the biggest,
although Jeff had a bigger one on that got away after a 5 minute struggle.
The fish were 10 " and up with my first two being two of the better fighting
fish I've ever landed. Except for the forty mile per hour gusts it was a
beautiful day and were didn't get back home till 2:30 Sunday morning. What
a day!

Tight lines my friends,
 Charlie
