Ray,
Still working on it. We're trying to set up a meeting with the DNR district
ranger to look at all of the possibilities, but I wouldn't expect much to
happen soon. Ebey is a great little lake, I first fished it thirty-odd
years ago. It's a very rich lake, the extensive shallows providing ideal
habitat for all manner of bugs and other invertebrates. It has good hatches
of midges from very early in the season, with Callibaetis and damsels coming
on a little later. There are enormous numbers of dragonfly nymphs
year-round. The lake has a self-sustaining population of coastal cutthroat
and I've caught them to eighteen inches and have seen a few of over twenty
come out of its waters. It's been flyfishing-only for as far back as I can
remember and, being one of only a few of those on the west side, we can't
afford to let it be closed off.
