JeffO,
Although the WDFW and the DNR seem to dismiss the fact that the Ebey
Mountain Road has been used for at least thirty years to access Ebey Lake,
as a claim to a public right-of-way, we are still trying to assemble all of
the pertinent facts. I would appreciate it if anyone who has used the Ebey
Mountain Road to gain access to Ebey Lake over a long period of time would
contact me. The road definitely passes over privately held property and the
DNR's easement is apparently very specific in allowing access only for the
purpose of removing timber. An interesting note is that the WDFW (at that
time WF&GD) apparently spent public funds in the construction of a dam to
stabilize the lake after someone dynamited the beaver dam that originally
raised the lake to its present level. Don't expect a speedy resolution on
this one, but I don't think we should let it go without a fight .
