Sean,
See if you can grab a copy of Fly Fish America, June 2000. Most fly shops
have this magazine on the counter for free distribution. In the June
edition, they do an unbiased testing of 5 wght travel rods. I read that you
want a 6, but this can get you into the right ballpark. For each type of
test, rods were equipped with identical reels and lines. Rod markings were
covered with duct tape and numbered. All testing was done on the same piece
of still water and casters were allowed as many casts as necessary to
determine a score. Rods were tested on standard casting, roll casting,
shooting, and line lifting. Testers were divided into beginners,
intermediate and advanced with each group drawing up their own scores from
the 58 rods tested. Scores are displayed by price and casters abilities.
Regards
Mike

Subject: Rod Question
I am looking to get a middle of the line 6 weight rod. Nothing too
fancy. I read a review about Elkhorn EX3 flyrods and they sound pretty
decent. Anyone know anything about them?
Also I was curious if anyone knows of a good trout stream (fish size
does not matter) on the west side of the mountains. I usually just go to
the snoqualmie but am looking for a change of scenery.
Thanks for the advice.
