Some good locations for lake/canoe fishing: Dry Falls Lake, north of
Ephrata and the Sun Lakes area (camping at Sun Lakes...great fishing at Dry
Falls). A little further out and up, Lake Chopaka up in the Okanogan (about
6-7 hours)...could be cold up there, though. South, down around Mt. St.
Helens there is a great little lake...Merrill, there's camping near by but
not right at the Lake.

Subject: Need a local destination
My two boys (14 & 16) and I had planed a fishing trip and canoe trip up to
Bowron Lakes near Quesnel in British Columbia. Unfortunately, due to a job
challenge, we have to cancel the trip. This is the one major thing we do
together annually so it is a big disappointment for me to have to canel,
but
a necessary decision.
I want to take a shorter five day trip somewhere closer over Sept 8th-13th.
Any suggestions???It does not have to be a canoe trip like Bowron, but some
decent fishing would be nice. Since the crowds are mostly gone, there
should
be more opportunities available. We can do a hike, drive in, or maybe even
boat in.
We should probably stay in Washington, but anything within 5 or 6 hours
would be a feasible event. Let me know if you have any suggestions. Hiking
in would be ok too, the boys are supurb hiker and campers.
Thanks guys for your help.
