Decided to fish the beaches today so I tried Alki Point (at the light house)
and Williams Point (Lincoln Park). Alki Point produced a real nice SRC at
slack tide and that was it. I decided to try Williams Point, not ever
having fished it before. There were 3 other anglers there, 2 gear and 1
fly. They were angling on the current side of the rip. I positioned myself
down beach from them and cast out into the rip, pulling my fly into the
slack water. It was slow with nary a tug or a rolling fish. The other
anglers weren't showing anything for their efforts either. I went to sit
down and take a break, I no sooner got my butt on the rock when the water
exploded where I had been fishing. I ran back to the spot and made some
casts, but it was too late, the fish was gone. I walked the beach a bit and
after a few more casts I decided to call it a day. On the last cast the
line pulled tight. After a few minutes a 6 lb coho was beached. Coho may
be larger, but they don't put up the same tussle as a SRC.
