I had the opportunity to motor around the central sound Thursday for the
first time this season. It looks like we are having a banner year for
salmon.

The Duwamish Channel has large numbers of milling silvers in it. Folks
trolling cut plug herring and hardware were having a field day. For us fly
fishers, myself and another fellow out there, things were a bit slower. I
hooked and boated one nine lb. wild silver which was promptly released.
While there, I didnt see the other fly fisher hook into anything.

The tide at Alki Point was getting ready to go slack on my arrival in the
area. I saw only one silver in the area. When walking on the beach on
Wednesday, the silvers were jumping during an outgoing tide.

The next stop was Agate Passage. Tide was slack and just starting to come
in. It looked very promising. Several silvers were porpoising and many
fish showed on the finder. I made a few casts along the beach but had no
follows that I could tell.

There was lots of bait in the open water of the Port Madison area. Casting
into the bait pods produced two more small silvers.

Nearer to Miller Bay, dark Chinook were still milling in the salt chuck.
They wanted nothing to do with the fly. That was a shame, as they had some
size to them.

Point Jefferson also looked promising with silvers porpoising in the deeper
water and along the rips. However, I saw no fish along the rocky beach.

Tight lines and may all of your knots hold.
