Jere, I tie chironomid cripples by twisting black zelon to make an extended curly body on #16-20 dry flyhooks. I add a couple turns of grizzley and a small tuft of white zelon and that's it. When you see big trout cruising the edge of shallow weedbeds and they are leaving tiny rings along with an audible slurp, lay one of these babies out in front and wait until they are nearby.
