Other fishing upcoming will be Puget Sound. The sr cutthroat fishing is
already doing nicely in South Sound around Nisqually Flats, Hartstene Island
and Wauna. It should be good along Bainbridge Island as well. A lot of coho
did not leave South Sound this year due to the increase in food. These
critters are pushing up around 2-1/2 pounds now and growing fast. Fall
fishing along the beaches should be excellent for adult coho returning (if
the numbers around Tofino are correct) and remember that they run right next
to the beach. These will be 3 to 9 pounds and wonderful on the fly. For the
Sound, there is no better book than "Hikes on Puget Sound Beaches" by Harvey
Manning. It is published by Mountaineers Press. This book gives you all
public access, parking, trailes and whether the spot has a high or low bank.
A veritable cornucopia of Puget Sound fishing spots. All shops should carry
this book and offer it to anglers. Harvey, a true fighter for our right to
enjoy the outdoors, does have some rather unique views on Washington
trespass laws though so read that part carefully.
