Once you pass Sprague Lake (some excellent warmwater flyfisihing there,
especially carp and big gills in the bays on the far side of the
lake--these can be waded or floated) you'll be passing several lakes
all of which have some pretty fair fishing. One of the closest to the
freeway is Clear Lake with the pubic launch less than a mile from the
Salnave Road exit (north side of the freeway) Clear is currently
fishing well for Rainbows in the 12-18 inch range and many are being
caught just past the 5 mile an hour bouys leaving the lauch and resort
area. Browns, are also caught here but a better bet is Medical Lake
just down the road from here. (No motor lake)

Fish damsels, 6 packs, or chironomids if you want to target these
trout. Both shorelines from the launch out to the trout are prime
holding ares for some huge Largemouth Bass and they can be enticed with
a big wolley bugger or a deer hair frog if you like top water action at
it's best.

For river fishing for trout, definately check out the Spokane
River--it's fishing well and we are getting reports daily of good
catches both downriver and in the upriver stretch between Sullivan and
Pines road. Email me if you need a map of the fishing holes in the
river. The Spokane is a caddis river with minimal stonefly and mayfly
activity. Current favorite flies include the tan elkhair caddis in a
dry, or a Beadhead Bloody Mary for under. Other good ones are the
Miracle nymph with green underthread and the lightening bug.

There are likely twenty lakes with in close striking distance from
Spokane and each offfers it's unique brand of enjoyment. For Brookies try
Fish Lake on the Marshall/Cheney Road--another great tubing "no motor"
lake. Anyway, enjoy your trip and give us a call at Silver Bow Fly Shop
1-800-732-7815 for up to date reports/conditions or feel free to email
me.
