I equate fishing with solitude and emotional recuperation and not
with fighting traffic or crowds, so I generally avoid fishing
weekends like the plague.

I'm self employed, so getting away weekdays is usually a matter of
simply telling my wife I'll be going fishing and when I'll be back.
(But that's not always a slam-dunk, depending on her emotional state,
the length of our lawn, and the length of her honey-do list at any
given moment ;-)

Since there's no free lunch in life, a weekday spent fishing is
always a trade-off with the lost income from 6-10 billable hours. How
often I fish depends on the status of the treasury and how badly I
need/want to get out on the water.

During spring and summer, I manage to get away for a day every couple
weeks; maybe a day a month during fall and winter.
