You're a little late for most salmon; HOWEVER, chum salmon will just start
showing up (some have already been showing up in some rivers). Most of the
time chums are most easily accessed in rivers, but there are some spots
around in the salt where the fish congregate. A couple of popular spots are
the mouth of Chico Creek (which can get to be a mini-zoo) and the Hoodsport
Hatchery on Hood Canal (during the week it can be a little crowded, and
absolutely chaotic during the week).

The Skykomish River may start seeing some chums about the the time you
arrive. The nice thing about that river is that it will have some
summer-run steelhead in it, too, at that time (it does already). You should
call some of our local fly shops, like Kaufmann's 206-448-0601 or Avid
Angler 206-362-4030 to get up-to-date info.
