Steve, thanks for the heads up about the new mid-arbor model from Orvis. Looks suspiciously like a Redington judging from the big drag control knob on the backside. With it and the BBS, it looks like they're gonna gain some serious share in the mid-price reel market.

The latest Orvis catalogue offers a mid-arbor reel for $115. It's called
the "Pro Guide Mid Arbor" reel and Orvis lists the following features:
mid-arbor - 25% more backing capacity than their Battenkill large arbor machined aluminum - durable & lightweight Center line disc drag Stainless Steel Gearing Saltwater proof hard anodized finish
I called Orvis about these when I first heard about them and they said the
reels would be available mid-October. The 3/4 and 5/6 weight models will run
you $115 ...the 7/8 and 9/10 weight models, $125
Didn't mean to sound like an Orvis ad but I had the info so thought I'd pass
it on.

Well I own two Okuma sierra 7/8 reels which I use on our five weights.Mostof the time they work just wonderuflly with no complaints. The steelhead I...
caught on the Snoq, and the last fishing trip really pushed them beyond
their limits. Several times on my last trip the clicker stopped working,
seemed like the drag was still working, and I had to open them up and poke
my finger around in there. Now when I strip out line it sounds weird. SoI was wondering if anyone had any reccomendations on new reels under 100be
bucks that might last a bit longer and handle a bit better than my Okuma
Sierra's?
On another forum I read that the Ross Cimmaron is a good reel? Looked toabout 70 bucks.
