I really like my Redington GD 5/6 - the drag control is really nice and it's
performed well for me for, I think, a couple years now. It was about $100.

Subject: in search of a heartier reel

Well I own two Okuma sierra 7/8 reels which I use on our five weights. Most
of the time they work just wonderuflly with no complaints. The steelhead I
caught on the Snoq, and the last fishing trip really pushed them beyond
their limits. Several times on my last trip the clicker stopped working,
seemed like the drag was still working, and I had to open them up and poke
my finger around in there. Now when I strip out line it sounds weird. So ...
I was wondering if anyone had any reccomendations on new reels under 100
bucks that might last a bit longer and handle a bit better than my Okuma
Sierra's?
On another forum I read that the Ross Cimmaron is a good reel? Looked to be
about 70 bucks.
