Perhaps your sidebar preferences are corrupt. Try moving the following file to a new location, then logging back out and back in to see if it makes a difference:
$HOME/Library/Preferences/com.apple.sidebarlists.plist If you can't do this from the affected account with the Finder, you could try using the Terminal, or else you'll need to log in with a different account and then use admin/root privileges to do it.
