Hi Rod. You must convert your RGB images to CMYK in Photoshop. 'Image -
Mode - CMYK'.
Then go; 'Image - Adjustments - Selective Colour' to bring back some of
the colours that have
changed. CMYK will increase the file size as well.
This is because images seen on computer monitors and TV screens using
RGB have a far
greater range, or gamut of colours that ink on paper can ever have.
This is why the $1000 you
may have paid your designer to create your new blue company logo, looks
purple when you
get it back from the printer, if you have not converted it. Not their
fault, yours I'm afraid.
Usually a designer will do this, it is part of their service.
Ink on paper is viewed with reflected light, where you loose say 15% of
detail and information,
transmitted light through a monitor passest 100% of information. Much
the same as a colour
slide compared to a colour photographic print. Slides always have more
colour information.
So Photoshop or another image editor is what you must use. Also make
sure you have 'bleed'
around your image if it is going to be trimmed.
Cheers hope this helps
Jon

Subject: Exporting/Converting Pages Doc to CMYK
Hi
Not being highly creative or intelligent, I used Apple's Pages
software to
create the School Newlstter (with the aid of one of the great
templates).
I exported it to PDF and took it to the printer who said the fonts and
resolution etc were all fine but he had to convert it from RGB to CMYK.
He showed me how some of the colours, particularly the blues, were out.
He said before I bring him the next Newsletter, I need to convert it to
CMYK. I have searched Pages and cannot find any
option/preference/export
feature that enables me to do this.
Any advice would be gratefully accepted please.
ta
Rod
