Thanks for the suggestion, Merv, but your procedure only resets the default for the data field, it doesn't change data existing in fields.

I guess that the short answer might be, it isn't possible to do what I want?

In Layout click on the data field rectangle so that is shows it
little black "handles" for size changing then go Format and choose
the font etc. Return to Browse and the data should appear as chosen
in format. Save.
