So, we are stuck to using Telstra if we travel into rural areas.
Extract From Australian Macworld 09.2007:
"Of all the wireless broadband options we tested there are two that
stand out. If you travel into rural areas, Telstra's NextG offers the
best coverage without any charges for roaming onto other networks.
If you plan on staying in Three's coverage areas then that carrier's
products offer far and away the best value."

Ronni

Have to agree.
So long as you are happy with the coverage of capital cities -
three has no equal - its really a no brainer.

Glenn,
I've been using Three's wireless broadband for almost 2 months and
am very
pleased with it. I initially tried the express card but had
trouble with
that and so swapped to the USB dongle. The paperwork for the set-
up left out
a vital bit of information - the number to "dial" - but telephone
support
fixed that up very easily: Three has a team dedicated to Macs.
The telephone number to enter into network preferences > PPP is
*99# and the
mobile to select in the drop-down box is HUAWEI Mobile.
My laptop is well over 7 years old and uses USB 1.1 but the dongle
works
well despite that.
I've used the mobile network in Sydney (CBD), Perth (CBD) East
Perth and
South Perth.

It appears there are two primary choices, Telstra and Three.
Telstra advise their Telstra Turbo Card is Mac compatible - I've
read
about some problems though.

Three NetConnect seem to have good plans, but with metro area
coverage only.

Vodafone have an offering, but it doesn't cover Perth.
What works best?
Glenn.
