Ros,

Start up from your OSX Installer Disk as though you are going to do an Instal .
DO NOT start the instal process .

When it is ready asking you to proceed for an installation look in your drop down menus
for the Disk Utility .

Run Disk Utility for " check Disk " to see what it tells you .
Depending on the results you may wish to then try a Repair Disk .

Using Disk Utility run "Repair Permissions .

Then back out of the Instal Disk and restart ... you may have to hold down
the Option key as it restarts to select OSX system.

Also you may need to try a Zap Pram at startup !

By the way ... how long since you replaced the PRAM battery ?
If it's flat you will not hold some settings after you shut down .
Time setting will not hold with a flat Pram Battery .

Good Luck

Bob

Dear Wamuggers

I am having trouble with my aged G3 iMac and wonder if
there are any "easy fixes" please:

1. Disk full message on Outlook Express. Deleted lots
of old mail, worked for a while, but now won't boot in
OSX.
I'm wary of again visiting Classic to delete more
because of
further issues since this.

2. Scattered desk icons on OSX start-up. Re-sized
and re- fonted.

3. Can't print: "Error Printing" box.

4. No History being recorded.

5. Can't put subject into this subject box because
Safari quits.

This is weird. Is my iMac dying??

Thanks

Ros
