I've repaired disk permissions, and there seemed to be a lot of permissions repaired. But it didn't seem to make much difference overall. So I've ran
Disk Utility, starting up from the install disk, and the result is...

Any ideas as to what else I can do to get the PowerBook functional short of taking it to an Apple repair centre or throwing it on the scrap heap? I' reluctant to throw it on the scrap heap as it had a brand new hard disk only two years ago, and a total screen replacement about a year ago. If I do have
to take it to an Apple Repair Centre, what are the options in Perth?

To repair the hard drive, you must first boot to the OS install disc. Then, open Disk Utility from the install disc "Utilities" Menu, and run "Repair Disk" on the hard drive.

If first pass doesn't fix the drive, try a couple more (3, up to 4) times. Even if the first pass reports that it successfully repaired the drive, verify it again, as new errors may be exposed by the first pass repair.
Repeat until no errors are found and no repairs are needed.

If, after this, you are still unable to repair the drive, you will probably need the power of DiskWarrior.

Note: Just be aware that any repair operation may risk loss of data, you should have a backup copy of important data.

Ronni
