Peter, to clarify, I tried creating an archive via the finder, ie. creating
zip file. Entourage itself doesn't open, it just goes through to the
database rebuild options, and each time that is tried it's back to square
one.

Bob, to answer your query, the other copy method I tried was wirelessly over
home network to another machine. Whilst other files copied across no
problem, this problem file just wouldn't. Actually, you gave me one idea
which stupidly I hadn't even thought of, ie. copying to flash drive. I'll
give that a shot when I'm in front of the dodgy machine again, but I don't
hold much hope :-(

I did try to connect the PowerBook to my MacBook Pro via Firewire to try
copying that way, except another hurdle to jump over ended up being that the
Network icon within System Preferences on the PowerBook just doesn't open up
- perhaps a function of the hard disk problem, perhaps just another problem
altogether?! Anyway, I left that one alone.

Cheers, Steven
