Ok thanks Alan. Your query as to how Growl was installed, Drop Box does install growl but it warns you about it. There is a checkbox during the install asking if you want Growl. you must have just clicked through it ;-) Some other add-on utility type apps. also install Growl (or ask if you want it installed).
