Hi Alastair, Well, I've had a lot of Macs and have never experienced any 'Sleep Issues'. All my Macs have gone to sleep when I have either set Energy Preferences or closed the lid (on Laptops), or used the Menu to Sleep the Mac. There are reasons why your Mac doesn't go to sleep or wakes at the set times. Have you had a read here?
