The trouble I regularly have with my 17" MacBook Pro is that when I put
it to sleep by closing the lid, it often (but not always) will not wake
from sleep. The screen stays black even though it still seems to be
operating. I have to hold down the power button for 10 secs and then it
shuts down.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi all
We've had six macs between us now, 3 still current, and not one has ever done
what we asked as regards sleep. They don't sleep when they should, doze off
when they shouldn't, refuse to wake.... My G5 is usually ok after a restart for
a few days, sleeping after 15 mins, then it forgets and stays awake the whole
time. Then a few minutes ago (the last straw that made me write this) I was
typing and it went to sleep - no sign of the screen sleeping first as per
settings.
Not a huge deal but it would be nice if things just worked - any experiences?
Hi Alastair,
Well, I've had a lot of Macs and have never experienced any 'Sleep Issues'. All
my Macs have gone to sleep when I have either set Energy Preferences or closed
the lid (on Laptops), or used the Menu to Sleep the Mac.
There are reasons why your Mac doesn't go to sleep or wakes at the set times.
Have you had a read here?
