Ok Tim, Before I knock off for the day. First Make sure you have the latest iTunes installed, if not download and install. Then: 1. Make sure that itunes helper is running, check in activity monitor. 2. Check you have iTunesHelper in System Preferences > Accounts > your Account > Login Items
If it is not in your Login Items: Go to your applications folder and find itunes, right click, show package contents > resources then find ituneshelper and start it. Then make sure that it is in your login items so you don't have to do that all the time. If it is not in Login Items. Go to your login items window. But find the item in your Finder window per the instruction above, not through the add dialog in System prefs. Drag the item into the login items window. This works for any app, not just ones that are hidden inside packages. 3.Restart you computer. 4. Restart your iPhone 5. Connect your iPhone to USB port. If you see a message "What would you like to do with this camera" select "Do Nothing" 6. When iTunes opens your iPhone should show under "Devices", select the iPhone 7. Under Summary - Options - tick "Open iTunes when this iPhone is connected" Cheers, Ronni On 30/11/2010, at 7:06 PM, Tim Law wrote: > > Thanks Ronni, > > No luck. > > On 30/11/2010, at 5:21 PM, Ronda Brown wrote: >> When you Quit iPhoto does iTunes recognise your iPhone then? > > > iTunes did not start up when I quit iPhoto. > I have turned off 'Connect when Camera is attached' in iPhoto, but iTunes > still does not start up automatically. > > If I open iTunes manually, the sync progresses as normal. > In iTunes preferences, Devices, the checkbox for "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and > iPads from syncing automatically" is unchecked. > > Ta > Tim > > > > > > > > > >> >> >> On 30/11/2010, at 2:09 PM, Tim Law wrote: >> >>> >>> Hello, >>> >>> I have an iPhone 3G running the latest OS 4.2.1 and syncing with a Mac Mini >>> running 10.6.5 >>> >>> When I plug in the iPhone to the computer, iPhoto will open automatically, >>> but iTunes will not so the iPhone will not automatically sync as it should. >>> >>> The checkbox in iTunes to "open iTunes when this phone is connected" is >>> ticked.
