That would seem to be the case, although then the insurance company would probably accuse her of being complicit in the theft… The bottom line is that this ridiculous provision is written into the document you sign when you take out the insurance, so there's really not much to be done. It seems its much more simple to rely on your home contents insurance to cover such loss.
