Hi Alan, Explanation why Safari 6 and other apps quit when idle.
Automatic termination is a feature of OS X Lion and OS X Mountain Lion that comes from the realm of iOS, the idea is that after an app is unused for a period of time and becomes inactive, it will automatically terminate to free up resources for other tasks. With the help of the new auto-savefeature, the user should theoretically never notice any of this going on and they can continue on with their work as usual when they need to, letting Mac OS X manage processes and resources for them without quitting apps or manual interaction through Activity Monitor. You can Disable Automatic Termination in Mac OS X By entering a command in Terminal but I would prefer people to let the operating system work as it is designed, so I won't give the terminal command in my reply to WAMUG mailing list. So Alan, you don't have any problems as far as I can understand by reading your emails. Mountain Lion is not Windows, stop fiddling and things will work as they should ;-) Cheers, Ronni Sent from Ronni's iPad4 On 03/12/2012, at 5:39 PM, Alan Smith <[email protected]> wrote: > The strange behaviour started when Mountain Lion was installed.
