Thank you Ronni I had removed battery when I initially notice prompt shut downs and non-clicking mouse. This will be my third battery- Apple get another 17" out pleeeeaase... Ultra definition HD.
New battery today, yes I noticed slow start ups and a bit more 'thinking time'. Main query was: do laptops have to be off before removing power cable with no battery inserted? They do don't they as there is no memory ability without power? Thank you again for your advice and expertise.
