After syncing both my iPad 2 and iPhone 5 to iTunes the “last backup” dates on the iOS device did not change. iOS 8.3 is installed on both devices. iTunes backup details appear to have updated OK. Using iTunes 12.1.2.27 and OSX 10.10.3. This is the first sync with Yosemite.
I am also puzzled by the "correct” procedure for USB syncing. Following a couple of years of frustration with the WiFi method, I intended to complete the sync/backup process then change both devices from WiFi to USB syncing. Did a WiFi sync for the iPad first then noted the date did not change on the device. I changed the iTunes setup for the iPhone to create a USB backup, hoping it would reflect the correct backup date on the device. However this too still retained the date for the previous backup. The WiFi sync option for devices only has one (sync) option which syncs, backs up and transfers apps. I note that the iTunes device display (main window) has separate buttons for syncing and backing up. Are these two separate processes to be run in tandem? Also noted that the iTunes menu bar (file/devices) has another option to transfer purchases. Is this a third process for the iTunes-USB method?
