When writing a book I use Auto Correct in Microsft Word to automatically correct or change long words, I use numbers to associate the changes for instance if I wanted to use Western Australia this would be typed as wa1 which had been set up in AutoCorrect as Replace wa1 with Western Australia.

The document was saved and as more typing commenced the codes dropped into place, but you could also save this as a template.

After a few lines you remember the codes and if you wish can quickly list any you use i.e. a1 replaced as Australia.

Anyway that's how I did it, and my 300 page book came out OK. and saved me lots of extra typing. I usually got all my students to set up auto correct codes as a single lesson.

Hope this helps.

I have thousands of shortcuts on my system for words. "au" for example for Australia.

I've made them over the years by going to system preferences/keyboard/text and added them there.

After the upgrade today, none of them work.

They are all still there in the list, and the box for the spelling to be corrected automatically is ticked.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Graham Rabe
