Thanks Peter. The problem I had - and its now been resolved - was only with 
apps like Notes and Evernote and Mail. Word for Mac was not affected. 

The problem was resolved by deleting an existing entry and then re-entering it. 
I did that once and that triggered all the other autocorrects to respond as 
normal.
