When I changed my iMac to Fusion Drive the SSD took the place of the built in
optical drive. It is replaced by an external optical drive. On inserting a
DVD i get the expected error message for the Apple DVD player. I would like to
physically remove the DVD player and its preferences but of course it is locked
in as part of the OS. How can I do this?
looking ahead to future system upgrades can I stop a reinstallation of the DVD
drive?
