Hi Bill & Susan, Extensions are mini-applications from the Mac App Store that can run inside of Photos. To edit with an extension, select an image, click the Edit button, click the Extensions icon in the toolbar, and then choose an option from the menu.
Apple offers one extension, Markup, for all users. If you’ve ever wanted to draw on your photos in order to explain them, Markup will make you happy. Click the App Store item to browse other available Photos extensions. I have just done this below on a Photo in Photos version 3 on my Mac I can’t send it to WAMUG mailing list as attachments are not welcome, I can send it ‘Offlist’ to you if you wish to see it. In Photos App on your Mac Select Photo you wish to add text on - (I suggest you duplicate the photo & work on duplicate) Click the … Markup Click Text - type your text & position the text where you want it on the photo Click ‘Save Changes’ when you are happy with result.
